It has been my experience that Twitter has allowed me the opportunity to interact with a group of very nice, interesting and diverse people. I have had an entertaining, humorous conversation with mystery writer, @erickeithmystry. He is a very witty and funny man; follow him if you don’t already. I admire quick-witted people because I am not quick at all when it comes to a snappy comeback, and often think of a comeback hours or days later.
When my husband became terminally ill, control of our lives went out the window. Fifteen months later, we are still standing, but the disease has taken its toll. Despite the fact that Christmas has always been my favourite holiday, this year after a recent relapse with my husband’s issues, I was having a little pity party of one. Other than skimming quickly and replying to some of the follows on Twitter, I’ve had neither the time nor the attitude to keep up with what was happening, despite the fact that you meet some awfully nice folks in this process.
My discussion with @erickeithmystry took place this past weekend and it made me laugh out loud. Laughing reminded me that life is not a one note tune, and it was time to kick my shitty attitude in the backside. The moral of the story? Smiles, even written ones, have the power to change a bad mood into a good one.

I love twitter as well. I’ve met some wonderful people there who make me laugh, who encourage me, who support my efforts.
I’m glad you have found someone who can lift your spirits when times are tough. I wish you and your husband the best. Prayers and love.

And to think at first, I thought that tweets were in a different language! My sister just laughed and assured me I would “get it”. And she was right, I did.
Thanks for your good wishes. Best wishes for a wonderful Christmas and a happy and prosperous new year.

Hi Nancy, I’m glad a visit to the Twittersphere raised your spirits at a moment when you needed it.
I was a reluctant convert too, but have been on Twitter 10 months now and find so much inspiration for writers, plus opportunities to connect with people who know what the writing adventure is like. I had a very funny four-way conversation one night with writers across the US (I’m in Australia) about eating pancakes together one morning in 2015. 🙂 (don’t ask!)
Wishing you strength and blessings as you and your husband go through this intense time. Belinda

Hi Belinda
To be honest, I prefer Twitter to FB right now, although the holidays have been so busy, I will have to reconnect on Twitter again after the holidays 🙂
Thanks for your kind wishes.
I loved my time in Australia – will travel there again in 2014 and looking forward to it. (Melbourne & Adelaide)
