Some of the Secrets from “SECRETS”

SECRETS is the second book in the Spy Series, and I am polishing and editing and busily trying to make it as perfect as possible for its upcoming trip to Smashwords.com.

So, what is Secrets about?  It is a continuation of the story begun in Spies & Lies, and spotlights Sonya and Bryan, who have travelled to Paris for their honeymoon. Cousins Steve and Mike are there as are others introduced in the first book, and all is well until their idyllic holiday turns topsy turvy.

I actually began Secrets in 2002, after the book Spies & Lies was finished.  The first two or three chapters languished on my computer until November of 2010.  Why?  So many reasons… but primarily because the rejection letters from agents were getting me down and I decided to walk away, polish the first three books and print them for my own satisfaction.

Fast forward to 2011.  My sister, Kathryn Burke, published a successful book, “An Accidental Advocate” in February and began to prod me to do “something” about the books languishing on my computer. And she told me about Smashwords, about which I had never before heard. She convinced me to set up a Twitter account, and to stop lurking and get a presence on Facebook. I’m working on that…

Last October life threw us a twist, and my husband was diagnosed with a terminal disease.  Time since then has been spent keeping an eye on him, and that’s when my laptop took up a permanent position in the kitchen/family room. I looked at Secrets again and that is when the storyline and the rest of the Spy Series began to form and came to life.
