Perhaps a bit off my normal topics here, but sometimes events happen that make you pause and reflect. We live in a gated, adult community, which provides a wonderful pool of talented and successful people to enjoy. Unfortunately, they are of an age where funerals and debilitating diseases are an ongoing part of life.
Yesterday, a celebration of life was held for an old friend, and I couldn’t get this off my mind. Why? We saw each other infrequently. Possibly, it is because this was a friend from the ‘good old days’, the days when we were all young and ambitious, on the way to our goals and passionate about them. The old ‘group’ has gone its separate ways now, and one or two of its members are on a slippery slope of their own. Time does march on, and to those young people now on the path to success, perhaps a moment or two should be spent in enjoying what you have and those people that you have. It doesn’t last forever.
