I Love Paris…

Paris was one of my favourite cities that we visited during a whirlwind European tour. Don’t get me wrong, every city had its charm and beauty. Vienna was resplendent, Florence unforgettable and Venice – a virtual feast for the eyes!

London, Bath and York are magnificent, but when I chose to take my story to Europe, despite the fact that many of the characters were of British origin, my heart wanted Paris. There is something that draws me there that I cannot explain.  Perhaps it is the language which lends familiarity.  Perhaps it is the architecture and maybe it just plain felt right.

I took this photograph from our tour bus window about 8:30 in the morning. Mist was coming off the river, but the sun was beginning to push through the cloud. In truth, the lamp posts were my focus at the time but I loved the moody result. By the time we arrived at the Eiffel Tower, it was sunny and quite chilly.

This photo was taken on the same bus at the other end of the bridge.  It doesn’t have the moodiness of the lamp posts but the sun was now beginning to break through, and we were on on our way to the Eiffel Tower. We were nearing the end of our trip, and I guess it matched my mood.

So, when I envision my intrepid group of operatives in Paris, this is the kind of backdrop in which I see them.
