Publishing Ebooks is More Than Pushing the Key

February First! It seems like Christmas was just yesterday and here we are almost through our winter.  Life here has taken on a frenetic sort of pace as I continue to review my Editor’s notes, polish and varnish Malice & Murder (working title The Whisper). I’m waiting for some feedback mid-month and God willing and the creek don’t rise – my schedule to publish by the end of February will be met.

But pushing the upload key isn’t the beginning or the end of it.  There is marketing, marketing, marketing.  Some folks are experts at this – me not so much. I’m from the generation that never bragged, we were taught that the work speaks for itself.  Not so now! I’m studying how to use SEO, key words and of course, networking.  I shall also dip  my toe into the unknown waters of video and YouTube. As much work as it is, this is an exciting and interesting time.

I just wanted to say how I agree with this! I am emphatically NOT a salesman, in any sense. The most upsetting aspect of marketing for me is consumption of time. I am here because I love writing, yet I do so little of it now!

It does seem as if we must pay for the pleasure of writing if we chose to publish our work. So glad that I am not alone in this. Thanks for your thoughts.
